Don't even teach cursive any longer in my sons school. Everyone prints.
Learned by phonetic myself. Nothing really clicked until after high school. I did have multiple teacher with different approaches. That is why we got common core. The they require 2 years of Spanish in high school and kids haven't ever mastered basic English. Plus they are removing history. Guess on the later is low test scores. Remove it teachers look great.
I am a believe that 1 teacher follows a class to the high school level. These days most kids have multiple teachers after 2nd grade by 3rd they have 2-3 teachers, by junior high they have 5-6 and by high school they have 7-8.
