Vice President Mike Pence became the first sitting vice president and highest ranking U.S. official ever to speak at the annual March for Life .
The pro-life march celebrated its 44th anniversary Friday, as protesters demonstrated peacefully in Washington, D.C., calling for the repeal of the 1973 Supreme Court decision Roe v. Wade, protecting a woman's right to have an abortion.
"Because of all of you and the many thousands who stand with us in marches like this all across the nation, life is winning again in America," Pence told the crowd.
President Donald Trump's senior adviser Kellyanne Conway also spoke at the march, while Trump himself offered his support on Twitter
