There are different types of damages that can be assessed by the jury or the judge. You are talking about compensatory damages and even those don't have to be quantified to the degree which you allege. The plaintiff will argue to the court what he thinks the value should be but the final determination will be up to the court. There is also the matter of determining the value of the damage done to the plaintiff's reputation, etc. The amounts of those types of damages, again, will be determined by the court. Then there are any punitive damages that yet again, will be determined by the court.

If Sullivan find Mako and files a lawsuit against him, I have little doubt but that he will lose.
