The quantum dot also includes a Group II-VI nanocrystalline shell having a semiconductor material composition different from the alloyed Group II-VI nanocrystalline core. The Group II-VI nanocrystalline shell is bonded to and completely surrounds the alloyed Group II-VI nanocrystalline core.
