The question still stands. But let me rephrase the question. What would president McCain have done Re the 'safety net'?
I claim that neither Obama nor a mythical president McCain could afford to act differently from each other on this matter, most especially during the winter of '09.
And when there is slack demand in a recession, nothing picks up the slack more, more quickly, behind only new job creation, than spending from safety net recipients.
Starting with unemployment benefits, followed by SNAP benefits. Ask landlords and grocery store owners.
