The conspiracy theorist in me has not eliminated the possibility that a certain BP may have benefited from, if not participated in, the Mako/Rosen attack. One of the most sure fired means of increasing pricing power is creating onerous and expensive barriers to entry for competition. The trick will be finding a way to reduce those barriers to entry sufficiently while still maintaining safety and efficacy standards. I am struck by the fact that I consistently here. "We need a BP partner" on so many small biotech boards. That really puts BP companies in the drivers seat imho. Let's hope that a business acumen that has participated on the other side of government regulation can come up with a way to maintain safety but let some of the small companies have a shot a getting to market sans BP partners. More competition usually leads to lower prices after all.
