B.izzy, if you were short, what would you rather do -- scare people into selling you their stock so you can cover your short position cheaply, and try to keep the price down so a whole slew of new investors (Patrick Cox readers) will get discouraged and give up --
or would you rather let the stock stay up, keep rising, and then you have to pay a lot more to cover your short position (and maybe go long)?
Answer: if you're a scumbag, you do everything you can to try to get people to sell you their stock. You send minions to post about how there isn't going to be any movement on the stock for many months, how one of the leading drugs (that is most likely to have news soon) probably won't work, etc.
Since you're not a scumbag, you wouldn't do this. But others would and do.
