In the US today there are 30m diabetics. When J&J with around 3m meters has a market share of 30% that means around 10m diabetics are testing on a daily basis. I once noticed a figure that currently there are around 6m J&J meters in use in the US, EU and the rest of the world. Don't know if this is an exact number. 20% of J&J's market would be 1.2m customers.
If the rest of the world with today estimated over 400million diabetics would test their sugar at the same rate like in the industrialized rich countries the sky would be the limit.
This is not the case for most of the countries today. We all know that.
To get a revenue of $1b it would need a little over 3m customers buying 3 boxes per month at a price around $9 per box.
If DECN could turn 1million customers from J&J another million from
Roche and some hundred thousand from Abbott and maybe bring some GenUltimate! meters to the markets worldwide this figure could be realistic IMO.
