Pretty sure my dad paid $1200 plus per year in union dues to be able to work in Chicago in the 50's and 60'
Had a friend in the 80's that was paid $25 per hour as Union worker to turn a generator on an off every 8 hour shift and baby sit it. That was all he did. If it went down he called someone.
