Simple answer? We've both been engaging in cyber warfare against each other for lo those many years.
For the first time a foreign power directly intervened to influence a U.S. election in favor of one candidate over another.
Cooler more reflective heads than yours, on both sides of the Congressional aisles, have seen the Intel, praised the president's actions and concluded that if it could be directed at one political party it could be directed at the other one.
Like I said Trump and his supporters are going to have only two courses of actions after Trump is confronted with the Intel, continued denial or a classic Trumpian "this is bad, real bad. We've got to figure out what is going on.
Meanwhile, I hate to say this, it's real bad, but we've got to keep the sanctions in place, maybe add some more."
