Welcome, Rip, and thanks for that great link. Having bad seasonal allergies, I was really interested to see the p53 connection to that and so many other diseases. We really don't know as much as we think we do about diseases and their causes. In 50 years people will look back at today's medical care and lump us in with blood-letting barbers of the middle ages.
However I'm not so sure that they can really claim that p53 is involved in Alzheimer's. We really have NO idea what causes it -- and there is the question as to whether lower p53 would be a cause, or a symptom of Alz. In fact, we don't even know if the amyloid plaques are a cause or a symptom, so I think that one claim should be knocked off the p53 list.
