Brigitte Gabriel: Chancellor Merkel 'Reaping What She Has Sown'
Author and activist Brigitte Gabriel criticized German Chancellor Angela Merkel over her lax immigration policies prior to Monday's truck attack at a Berlin Christmas market.
Police are still searching for a suspect who drove a large vehicle into an outdoor 'Weihnachtsmarkt' in a fashionable section of the capital.
"She obviously is reaping the results of what she has sown," Gabriel said, adding that Merkel previously tried to "underplay" whether refugees were behind a series of rapes on New Years Eve 2015 in Köln.
Germans know their government has put the public in danger, she said, reacting to a video featuring Merkel repeating the phrase "Wir schaffen das" or "We will manage that", regarding the acceptance of Middle Eastern refugees.
The government can no longer hide that attacks like the one in Berlin have been driven by "importing" refugees into Germany, she said.
Larry Korb, a former assistant secretary of defense, noted that Merkel has also said Germans cannot "give into the fear, because if we do, the [terrorists] win."
