Insightful post. You summarized the situation well. If Brilacidin proves to be safe and effective for Oral Mucositis as a non absorbed topical oral rinse it limits the indication for an IV medication.

The IV medication would often used in an inpatient setting. It would be difficult for cancer patients to travel to the infusion center for twice weekly IV therapy in addition to their chemotherapy and or radiation as outlined by Drano. It would most likely be given to patients with severe symptoms.

In contrast Brilacidin oral rinse could be taken at home. If it is effective it will be used for treatment and prevention of oral mucositis and given to all patients at risk for oral mucositis.

The potential market for the possible GI indications of Brilacidin is enormous. While the progress of the Oral mucositis trial has been slow, CTIX is progressing to the Phase 2 Ulcerative Proctitis trial. If the Ulcerative Proctitis trial and or the Oral Mucositis produce positive results look for trials for Crohn's disease, Ulcerative Colitis and Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

If Brilacidin is approved for all these indications ...what a block buster!
