I remember that poor ump had all that chewing tobacco sh## all over his face when Brett got thru with his tantrum.  That was quite a scene.

Best player I saw in SD playing minor league ball was Herb Score.  He was a SPEEDBALL!! pitcher for the Indians but got hit in the eye by Gil McDougal of the Yanks and it affected his vision to the point he couldn't locate his pitches anymore and he didn't want to cut loose and hit anybody so he was sent down.  Well, one game for SD he let back-to-back homer / triple and you could tell he was pissed!  The next batter he wound up further back then Sandy Koufax and the ball was just a blur. I can still remember the sound of it hitting the catcher's mitt. The catcher jumped up, threw down his glove, and had to walk it off.  Sadly, he then went back into his protective mode.  Major potential star knocked out by a freak accident.
