They are probably far enough away from the urban medical centers that there is a larger population of previously untreated head and neck cancer patients -- those patients probably get referred to clinics in bigger cities. What's been hard about recruiting is that they need to get patients who have not previously had chemo or radiation, since those previous treatments may have permanently affected the mucous membranes (and thus it wouldn't be a fair trial for Brilacidin-OM).
