Its hard for other countries.......
Providing for your citizens is difficult when a country's resources are owned by foreign based corporations....Chile is a prime example, they held a democratic election and chose a president in Allende who wanted to use that nation's resources to help raise the standard of living for Chile's citizens, but the US didn't like it and the CIA overthrew a democratically elected head of state and inserted a brutal dictator in Pinnochet.
Iran back in the 50's was the same situation....they elected Mosaday (sp?) and the CIA staged a coup there by bombing mosques and then dropping leaflets blaming the democratically elected government, then installed the Shah of Iran...and we all know how that worked out.
