U.S. stocks drop to 3-month lows on Europe fears
NEW YORK (MarketWatch) — U.S. stocks closed at more than three-month lows Monday, and the Dow industrials slid for the eighth session in nine, as investors worried about Greece’s potential exit from the euro zone.
“The market appears to be discounting a Greek exit from the euro,” said Linda Duessel, senior equity strategist at Federated Investors Inc.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJI JIA) ended down 125.25 points, or 1%, at 12,695.35, its lowest close since Jan. 31, after Greek politicians over the weekend failed to reach an agreement on a unity government, raising the likelihood of new elections and the risk of halted international aid payments. http://www.marketwatch.com/story/us-stocks-be...2012-05-14
