Unsubstantiated and unlikely. Not even off the record would so many speak out about the results of an investigation, career professionals and such.
Lying to an FBI agent is often the trip wire for prosecutions, regardless of the substance of an investigation.
That's what got M. Stewart and this guy prosecuted:
James E. Cartwright, a retired Marine Corps general who as vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff served as a key member of President Obama’s national security team, agreed to plead guilty on Monday to lying to the F.B.I. about his discussions with reporters about Iran’s nuclear program.
It's foolish to think anyone as experienced as Comey would not have his agents looking for a prosecutable offense, especially lying to the agents of the organization he heads.
