Al Gore conceded. All Gore retracted after Florida initiated an automatic recount, which went the the Supreme Court. Any candidate would have done it as all States had not certified the election results.
Once the results were certified, he conceded as he should have. He did not stand up on stage, and tell the American people, prior to the election that he'd keep them in suspense if he lost. What kind of trap is a direct question? He's either going to follow the history of the democratic process or he's not. There is no gray area or anything for you to spin.
