HDR TV shipments to reach 4m units this year
High Dynamic Range (HDR) TV shipments will reach more than 4 million units in 2016 and growth to more than 30 million units by 2020, according to IHS Markit.
The research firm predicted that by 2020 nearly all of the 112 million 4K TVs shipped worldwide will be compatible with HDR, but only 30% will have “true HDR performance capabilities”.
It said that worldwide demand for 4K TVs continues to grow, even though total TV shipments will decline slightly in 2016 and that HDR holds promise for improving profits.
