question ... does anyone think that the weird trading numbers we get lately (e.g. 319 954 or all the small bits and pieces) are likely due to people rounding off their holdings or shorts covering whatever they can cover ?

I think all shares have to be accounted for when the ticker changes, so I assume all shorts have to be covered ?
