They're required to announce shareholders meeting, just not make it an open invitation to attend. The companies can decide the stipulations for attending. You're pretty much right about all that. Otherwise, could you imagine some of those big companies like Google, Microsoft, Apple, Ford, Coke. Jeez, it'd be a madhouse. The only requirements of a shareholders meeting is the announcement and release of everything that went on pertaining to the company.
