days of coaching are over, 25 years. This is a very young team. I can't fault the coach for allowing the seniors to lead...it is their team. That is the process of turning boys into men. If they were running anything other than a veer the QB would not be so important. This years team doesn't have a QB that has run the veer before, making it hit and miss. Should finish 6-3 or 5-4 with a at large bid on points. Right now they have us paired with the 5 time State Champion in the 1st round. They were at one point in our conference. So we know the team well. Seniors as youth did not fair so well with them. Younger players pounded them 3 of 4 times in meeting.
Just like DUTV to be a Champion you have to be multi dimensional and have more than 1 games plan. Might be the one fault of our present coach, he lives or dies by the veer. You have to coach up not down. Maybe he will take my advise from 2 years ago with the younger group and run multiple schemes, as they have the talent. West Michigan High School football is very political, as generally 6 out of the 8 divisional State Champions come from West Michigan every year.
Hopefully DUTV starts it playoff drive soon...
