Contrarian investor here and new to this board. I'm looking to share ideas with others.

I invest in different things, but my stock investing is split between long-term dividend investing and short-term (3-12 months on average) contrarian investing. I look for company, sector, or other types of crises and drops in stocks and after DD if can see them rising out of the ashes, I invest with an exit point of 15-30% profit.

The larger the disaster or chaos, the better I like it because it scares others away and creates opportunity.

For example, when Lending Club (LC) had the scandal with the CEO this year, and I know the company because I have invested in their p2p website, I jumped on it and bought x,xxx number of shares. I held and sold at three exit points within three months, averaging 24% profit for the three months.

More examples are....on my DD radar now is Deutsche Bank. I look to see how I can profit from these disasters. I may or may not jump in on DB, I'm still watching it go down.

The end of last year, early this year I did okay with Bank of America. I was looking at Hanjin Shipping but passed.

On a bad trade I'm getting about 10% profit for 2-3 month holds. Those are not annualized profits, those are profits for those exact time frames. I cut losses when they hit 7%.

Anyway, I hope to share ideas with others. Thanks for reading!
