You should CALL them and tell them you're considering transferring shares, and what kind of incentive will they give you? Lots of them will give you either cash or a bunch of free trades. DO NOT just tell them you want to transfer your shares, without asking for them to give you some trades. Schwab often advertises that they'll give you some cash and/or trades.
