Misuse of antibiotics is one of the reasons that current ones are becoming useless as bacteria develop resistance. Here's the Chinese swimming doping scandal cheater's statement on why he did poorly on a race -- he had a COLD (virus) and here's what he decided to do:
Well that was worse than useless, antibiotics not only don't do anything against a virus, but they could have caused side effects that made him feel bad.
If he took Cipro or one of the other fluoroquinolones, he's going to have a lot bigger problems if he had sore muscles so quickly... sounds like he's having a reaction to it.
Quote:
"I took six antibiotic tablets to treat the cold after the 200m final (on Monday) but it I couldn't shake it off.
"My muscles felt very sore after about 800 metres," added Sun, who became embroiled in a war of words with rival Horton earlier in the week after the Australian called him a "drug cheat" over a three-month doping ban served by Sun in 2014.
