'I Was Not Expecting That': Bradley Cooper Surprised by Backlash to DNC Attendance
Bradley Cooper was taken aback when he saw that some American Sniper fans were angry that he watched President Obama speak in person at the Democratic National Convention.
"I was not expecting that," the actor said on The Late Late Show With James Corden. “Republicans were up in arms that I was there watching the president speak.”
Hangover director Todd Phillips chimed in, saying it was analogous to the mob being angry at Robert De Niro for being in The Intern.
Cooper said seeing the president speak was "unbelievable" and called Obama an "incredible president."
“To be there, it was probably one of the last times we’ll hear him speak,” Cooper said. “I think he was an incredible president. I was really excited.”
Phillips then told a story about Bill Clinton popping up on the set of The Hangover 2 in Bangkok.
