Reuters has partnered with Samsung to offer virtual reality and 360-degree videos and photos.
The Focus 360 scheme will see Reuters use Samsung Gear 360 cameras and editing technology, making the immersive content available to view on Reuters.com and on the Reuters News and Reuters TV apps.
“Our agreement with Samsung allows us to enhance our visual journalism and provide a more absorbing experience for our viewers,” said Stephen Adler, editor in chief and president, Reuters.
“Through VR and 360 technology, customers will be able to deepen their perspective on news events and gain a richer understanding of the context.”
A dedicated channel on Reuters.com will make Reuters’ catalogue of immersive content available in one place. Content will be available on Reuters.com and the Reuters TV app for Android starting August 2, and on iOS beginning August 5.
