The problem is -- we don't really know what causes autism. Lots of theories but who knows? AVXL, using the throw-it-to-the-wall-and-see-what-sticks theory, also talked about trying their drug for autism. Hey, why not? There are lots of drugs that work but we don't know how. Gold shots for rheumatoid arthritis are a very old treatment -- how did it evolve? Someone said, "hey, let's try this, nothing else works." If they had to go to the FDA today, no way would that have been approved.....
