As far as your pop up question. I mainly visit the site through my Android Turbo phone. With that said, I have seen pop ups whether I'm viewing by mobile device or desktop option through my phone.
I often go into my settings, choose Apps, then click on the browser I use, which is Google, and clear cashe. I actually do this to all my downloaded Apps to clean them. Some Apps will get download updates when I restart my phone.
The pop ups are gone after that. You will need to resign in with user and password. The read posts here at the site will reset as if you are visiting them for the first time.
I assume you can do the same on your desktop to try and resolve this problem.
