Theories about that 1.54 trade: someone was covering their CTIX short so they could deploy their margin elsewhere; someone wanted to create a gap up for all the "gaps must be filled" traders (although if that's the case, why did they do it with that many shares?); someone has managed to get some information about the progress of a clinical trial or a partnership in the works.

If you read some of the articles about the lengths that the hedge funds go to, to get information in advance, you won't discount the last scenario. Things like having employees read blogs from people who are in clinical trials, bribing nurses and other medical professionals, etc. -- nothing is beyond these criminals.

My guess is scenario #1, short covering to deploy elsewhere.
