I'm not disputing the long term disastrous results of communist rule.
But in '75 it was a military route of the regime we defended but could never get to fight as hard or as effectively as their northern 'brethren'.
And you could argue that if Saigon had fallen in '65, the whole process of disintegration would have occurred 10 years sooner.
it was a tragic mistake and not worth the 58,000 names on the Vietnam Memorial.
