The 9:30 - 10 time segment will look odd to you .. because it is. I call it amateur hour for a reason. Also the best time to buy cheap cause overnight all kinds of people have gotten emails stating the best stock in the world is going to skyrocket so they hit a market order into the bid.
EOD volumes and prices are higher at the end of the day as many traders close their open positions and if there really arent many sellers at the ask.. up she goes
