Re: Bhawks #9985
Your Numbers are a little off.

A typical Vietnam War week was 150-200 KIA, 600-1,500 WIA.
those numbers were reported like clockwork, week in and week out.

It looks a lot different when you know what you are looking at.
On March 8, 1965, the first American combat troops landed

Try 500 a month X 12 = 6000 A Year X 10 years = Sixty Thousand Men
About 60'000 Thousand Men Died In Ten Years
That is if you start in 1965

It started in 1955 with just a few advisors and grew to 23,000 before the carnage Really started.

The News would report 200 Men would Die a Day sometimes./ Or More

America paid a terrible price for its involvement in the Vietnam War - nearly 60,000 killed-in-action, over 150,000 wounded, and some 1,600 missing

On March 8, 1965, the first American combat troops – the 9th Marine Expeditionary Brigade – waded ashore at China Beach north of Da Nang. There had already been limited U.S.naval action, and the bombing of North Vietnam had commenced. There were also 23,000 military advisors already on the ground.

Four guys from my block went.

I didn't go was to young.
