I'm not a scientist- but I dont know why they are testing or dealing w particles of an average 3 microns- a huge size compared to viruses (at least virus diameters- which is the controlling factor for air filters, is it not? )

I am intuitively familiar w microns
I've known -via an engineering toolbox website- that viruses are ca .005-.3 microns and the smallest bacteria .3 microns

the naked human eye cant see below ca 30-40 microns -1/3 the size of a human hair-ca 110 microns

HEPA air filters-the best commercial air filtration available in retail stores, filter down to .3 micron and the smallest size particle that can be caught by a commercial air filter-the smallest such filter certified by the fda to my knowledge- is .1 micron- the filterqueen defender

a micron is ca 1/25,400 inch- or .000001 centimeter

so again I'm perplexed why here they would be dealing w an average particle size of 3 microns -far larger than most viruses-IF they are trying to filter viruses- though one site tells me viruses can be as large as 14k nm- presumably thats the length- because they are often much longer than they are wide
