The Immigration Reform Bill passed by the Senate, with GOP votes, included increased border security money and expanded E-verify.
It also required those who came out of the shadows to pay fines and back taxes, learn English, go to the end of the legal immigration line where they could apply for...... a Green Card.
Legal citizenship would follow the usual pathway, after all of that. So, NO 'amnesty'...at least in the Reagan sense of the word.
There were also reforms to attract the skilled workers we need.
All of the above would become taxpayers, funding both SS and Medicare.
Can you honestly say that if the House had taken up the Bill and passed it we wouldn't be better off today? Boehner didn't have the balls to put it on the floor for debate.
