Naked Shorting is selling shares you do not own that do not exist that you created out of thin air and you received payment for those shares just as if you sold a real share.
If you successfully drive the company into BK; you never have to pay taxes on the money you just earned by selling an illusion, because the only thing that will close out your transaction and make it part of the real world is the sellers act of buying a share already available on the market, effectively closing the sellers transaction. The close is reportable and taxable.
