Until we have a securities lawyer with us to explain the interpretation, then it will be some what difficult to decipher what is exactly is meant by these legal terms.
I can see how you view it your way. But I can also see how there is a slight grey area to cause some confusion.
The trigger date can be viewed as just that.... A trigger date that prompts an 8K to disclose a merger completed.
But the actual file date of when the 8k is released, can be viewed as the report date. And in turn it is from this point that 75/76 days is counted.
It really doesn't matter to me much, as long as it comes out... Which I believe it will very soon I'm just picking at the details because I'm bored and just to get a better understanding.
