They had to backtrack from the incinerator and one by one go through each ash and put each receipt back together. Or do the same because they may have shredded their papers. Who knows, since it's taking this long, they probably disposed of it on the moon and had to go on a Pluto mission to retrieve a capsule of shredded paper that they sent up 25 years ago.
