A father told his three sons when he sent them to the university: "I feel it's my duty to provide you with the best possible education, and you do not owe me anything for that. However, I want you to appreciate it and always remember what I provided to you. As a token of my commitment, I want each of you put $1,000 into my coffin when I die."
His sons all graduated from college, and achieved great financial success in their careers. One became a doctor, another a lawyer and the third, a financial planner.
When their father’s time had come and they saw him in the coffin, they remembered his wish.
First, it was the doctor who tucked ten $100 bills into his father’s chest pocket.
The financial planner also put $1,000 there.
Finally, it was the heartbroken lawyer's turn. Wiping away a tear, he took out his checkbook, wrote a check for $3,000 and slipped it into Dad’s shirt, and took out the $2,000 cash.
He later went on to become a member of Congress.
