First of all there are no rational arguments against closing the gun show background check loophole and the terrorist watch list loophole.
For some reason or other the 'well regulated' portion of the 2nd Amendment is overlooked by those arguing against universal background checks.
No one argues against DUI laws, because they don't deter all trunk drivers, with 'drunks don't care about the law '. No sane person anyway.
As for your fanciful 'deterrence' argument for open carry?
You'll be strolling along, living your life, not paying attention to anything you don't ordinarily pay attention to. If someone is provoked by seeing your 'open carry', well they're likely to get off a shot before you even know what's happening.
