C'mon now, that's 'comrade' talk! Of COURSE each party tries to nominate judges who at least are not hostile to the principles of the nominating president.

There is nothing intrinsically wrong with judges nominated by progressives or by conservatives.

Either their rulings are intellectually rigorous and consistent, or they aren't. Would you argue that Alito and Roberts weren't selected because they were conservative judges with a record of rulings that were 'reassuring' to Republicans?

And of course there are surprises and disappointments.
