I agree that time, not necessarily ranking, will help us achieve the 1M user. I have always been somewhat skeptical of what the rankings actually mean to us...other than an increase in awareness. I feel it's difficult and possibly even inappropriate to make a direct connection to total number of users and Alexa rank. There isn't a good way to gauge app user numbers especially on tv's.
Also back when Netflix was rising in popularity and Alexa ranks, we were in the dawning age of streaming,smartphones and apps. Most access to streaming online was done on desktop. I remember using my own desktop at the time to watch the limited content available in sub par resolution and thought- man Hastings is crazy to think this crap is the future....what percent of people NOW use their desktop or laptop as a primary source for streaming....??? Sometimes now when I hear about a new service, I am as likely to check the app store first as I am to google it.
