Multichannel Video Program Distributors (MVPDs) - A Multichannel Video Programming Distributor (MVPD) is a type of service provider that delivers video programming services to the consumer, often charging a subscription fee. MVPDs offer specific content or can be a type of aggregator that provides programming to distributors such as direct-broadcast satellite (DBS) providers, cable TV providers, wireline video providers (such as Verizon FiOS, AT&T U-verse) and competitive local exchange carriers (CLECs) that offer IPTV. Sometimes DBS, cable operators, wireline video operators, etc. also act as MVPDs.

Cable TV, satellite TV etc. distributors charge MVPDs a fee to carry their programming.
