You're a naïf and a hypocrite. Everybody has lied at sometime or another. Sometimes people do so to avoid offending people, sometimes they lie to enemies to mislead them, or to defend themselves. Yep presidents and SOS's have and WILL lie.
Secretary of States in particular are certainly less than candid with adversary nations when it would be helpful to conceal our real intentions, or those of our allies.
Sometimes politicians dissimulate to try to appeal to a wider group.
Watch Republicans do it the further along they get. and of course, if you believe their claims, they are ALL lying about each other!
Seriously, make an attempt to apply your standards for veracity to the conservatives in this race. I know I will!
