Right, I'm ambivalent. I don't say a continuous, peace time draft, but rather crank it up with a declaration of war....automatic.
The tax hike should also be automatic.
Once those 'trip-wires' are in place, let the debate begin with full understanding of who's at risk and what it will 'cost', in both senses of that word.
At the very least it would tone down the truculent rhetoric about what 'we need to do to.....fill in the blanks....from people who in no way will touched by the 'consequences' of what they argue for.
