I haven't researched the financial aspects of the company - sorry I can't be of help on this.

As for part shortages, it sounds like they're just building prototypes, so volumes are really low. I don't think tooling is a big cost for them as I assume most parts can be made from bar stock or billets as opposed to large castings. My experience is that prototype suppliers turn work around in 2 to 8 weeks depending on their workload and complexity of the part. With all the time that coates has been in business, I would think that they would have a network of suppliers that they could draw from for the development work. If suppliers are pushing for cash up front, they could always look elsewhere as there are numerous job shops that will work on net 45 days or more.
