The US equity market, insurance market, and real estate market could not fall like Iceland and recover the same. Dangerous outcomes not just relating to economics were at stake. 2008 was a set up imo. The savings and loan debacle in the 80's was a fundamental cancer that spread on speculation in technology in the 90's....and so the cookie crumbles...
