Difference is...
US made a treaty with Saudi Arabia back in the day before Bush. Trade off. Petro oil dollar in exchange we protect the Saudi Family and the oil to the free world. Obama stuck a knife in the deal with his treaty and lifting of sanction on Iran and at the same time stuck a knife in Israeli's back. Petro dollar is gone. It is kind of like when the British sterling lost favor only this time might be worse.
Where is China oil invested ? Iran. Could get interesting.
Wonder why China keeps lowering the value of it currency. Higher currency value higher labor costs. Then they can't compete in the world market.
Could be a filp/flop US is or could end up with cheaper labor and cheaper energy costs ??
Nasty side effects in the next few years is my guess for both sides...
