Re: grubstake #378
Your interpretation, in my opinion, is fairly close.

In a new type product nearing production, progress is far from seamless and orderly, for all the reasons one could hear from GC.

A retro fit is usually a modification to meet a requirement not initially foreseen by the product design team and made in the field and sometimes at the production plant on a temporary basis.

A conversion usually has the identity of being a package having a 'revision level' notation added on the products's model number and an accompanying drawing package and furthermore, traceable back through engineering documentation.

As for the parts being 'specially made' or 'already made'... I have spent many a day, knee deep in definitions, whether either item had the correct revision, nomenclature or authority to stop the bleeding on a production line or fix a problem encountered by the sale staff.

That is my take on the subject and I welcome anyone who can advance or clarify better. I am always willing to learn more. Buy and hold COTE.
